The celebration of a century of African music continues to grow, with DJ Maphorisa announced as the latest addition to Gallo 100: The Sound of a Century, taking place at Cape Town’s Grand Parade on 15 December 2026.
Known for his ability to move seamlessly across genres and generations, DJ Maphorisa will bring a special Afro House set to the Gallo 100 stage, adding a distinctly contemporary energy to a festival that celebrates the evolution of African sound across 100 years.
The announcement comes as Gallo Record Company marks its centenary – celebrating a remarkable 100 years of recording, preserving and championing the music and artists that have shaped the African musical landscape.
Alongside Black Coffee who has been announced as the headline act, the addition of DJ Maphorisa further brings together the past, present and future of African music on one stage.
From Gallo’s historic catalogue of jazz, mbaqanga, isicathamiya, maskandi, gospel, reggae, soul, kwaito and house, to the globally influential sounds emerging from South Africa today, Gallo 100 is a celebration of how African music continues to evolve, influence and connect generations. DJ Maphorisa’s Afro House set will add another chapter to that story.
As one of South Africa’s most recognisable DJs and producers, Maphorisa has played a significant role in the evolution and global visibility of contemporary African dance music. His extensive body of work spans house, Amapiano, hip-hop and Afro House, reflecting the fluidity of South Africa’s modern musical landscape.
For Gallo 100, however, audiences can expect to experience a different side of the artist as he takes to the decks for a specially curated Afro House set.
