On Saturday, October 22 i was among thousands of music makers and lovers in their glitz and glamorous fashionable clothes who flocked in to the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa,to attend the MTV Africa Musical Awards (MAMA2016).
And as you know it i was on a red carpet interviewing who’s who in African and international entertainment industry
The definitive annual celebration of African and international talent and achievement, MAMA 2016 recognises and rewards musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on the African music and youth culture over the previous year. The ceremony featured stunning performances from African and international artists along with the show’s signature cross-genre and cross- border collaboration such as the likes of Future, Yemi Alade, Nasty C, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Patoranking and more.
Replacing the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, who initially was supposed to host the 2016 MAMAs was Queen “B’Bonang Matheba alongside co-hosts Nomzamo Mbatha and Yemi Alade.The 2015 MAMAs winner was due to make his grand return to his hometown—and take a break from the U.S. election cycle—to host this year’s awards show in Johannesburg.
Two days before the actual event,when emotions were rising ,fans excited to see Trevor,the Daily Show host took to social media to announce that due to a severe upper respiratory and ear infection, he’ll need to cancel his trip to SA. He also said he’ll “do his utmost” to make it up to his fans. As one of his fan, i was bit disappointed but the three queens slayed on stage and made me forget about Trevor .
