The much-anticipated Maxwell South African shows that were set to take place on Saturday, August 8th at SunBet Arena inPretoria and Tuesday, August 11th at Grand Arena, Grand West in Cape Town have unfortunately been cancelled.
This follows communication from Maxwell’s team having reached out to Vertex Events to inform them that Maxwell can no longer do the shows. Maxwell’s team have confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the cancellation are beyond their control. Maxwell and team have confirmed that despite the fact, they really wanted to come back to South Africa and put on great shows but unfortunately cannot make it to South Africa.
Upon communicating with Vertex Events, several options were explored between Maxwell’s team and Vertex Events. Unfortunately, the only option left was to cancel the shows. Meanwhile Vertex Events has also tried numerous ways to find a resolve, but the matter has been beyond either party’s control.
Statement from Maxwell: “Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, I’m unfortunately no longer able to perform in South Africa as planned. This decision wasn’t made lightly. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the shows. I appreciate your understanding and continued support. I hope to be back with you all soon”.
After numerous instances to also try and move dates around to try and fit Maxwell’s schedule, Vertex Events could not reach a viable solution due to the unchangeable circumstances at hand.
Neither party is in breach of the contract between Maxwell and Vertex Events. Both parties have been professional and the decision to cancel the shows did not come lightly.
Although this has been an unfortunate and disappointing development, Vertex Events does understand the circumstances at hand. Maxwell and his team have been very clear that they were ready to perform at the shows which were bound to sell out and that they will work with Vertex Events to find alternative dates for 2027, as he will not be able to perform in 2026 regardless of the period in the year.
Vertex Events was looking forward to producing a stellar show for all attendees. All venues were confirmed, technical production elements as well as all production logistics had been set in place and Vertex Events was completely prepared for the shows.
As much as the decision has been a hard one to make, Vertex Events remains transparent to share with its much-loved audiences that this has indeed been beyond anyone’s control.
All ticket holders will be refunded in full. Webtickets will be contacting all ticket holders for refund options.
For what was set to be two superb nights of great entertainment, Vertex Events is ready and hopeful for Maxwell to return to South Africa in the new year and deliver world-class entertainment.
