Singer, songwriter, Mogomotsi Klaas well known to his fans as Mo-klaasik hails from Bokone Bophirima , in Mahikeng, has released a new single titled Happiness.
The song is a 360 degree U-turn musically for Mo but a clearly cut winner with elements of funk, soul and RnB that hits you with nostalgia, taking you to the era of Brenda and the Big Dudes, Sello Chico Thwala and many more artist that were huge in the early 90’s. Being inspired by motswako pioneers such as HHP,Tuks Senganga and others, Mo brought a Motswako twist to the song .
The song takes us through his journey while his mom was sick and how he quite his 7 to 9 job to take car of his mom. Nevertheless he never let anything to get him down,he chose to be happy.
“It speaks about what exactly went through my mind like having to quit my Job, the two years I spent taking care of mom and how in those years I felt so helpless throughout my Mothers period of severe illness BUT still felt some sense of hope in my pursuit of HAPPINESS”
Written and recorded by him , Produced by “Jerah Mothusi”. The song was written just a week before his mom, Nozipho, passed away .
Coming from Bokone Bophirima , a province of motswako pioneers ,Mo has been fortunate to share stage with various award winning artists such as the likes HHP, Tuks Senganga , K.B Motsilenyane Morafe, Mo molemi and outside province he has shared stage with Solly Moholo,Hlengiwe, J.R,Thembi Seete etc.
In 2012 he took a leap of faith and entered a Hansa Pilsener beer competition where a winner would share a stage with the AmericanR nB multi-award winner , Usher Raymond at the Hansa Festival of Legends tour. Mo perefomed and shared stage with Usher at the Hansa Festival of Legends tour during the Soweto concert, which attractted over 30 000 music lovers at Orlando Stadium .
In 2004 he released an album titled 2.4 JOY” (Kantleng ya M’nate) and his single from that album Wakeup (Tsoga Afrika) was also used as the theme song for the duration of the 2010 world cup season by one of the sabc radio station,Motsweding FM.
With his Latest single turning heads in the music industry and breaking boundries of the stereotype of Motswako just being a RAP thing, his vocal ability and RAP skills has Mo Klaasik soaring for international recognition.
