Two days To Go Until #MTVShugaDS Hits Your Television Screens

We just only two days to go until #MTVShugaDS hits your television screens.#ShugaFam! , before we get comfortable on our couches to be informed, educated and entertained,  DJ Fresh played the official MTV Shuga: Down South Title Track on 5FM. This was the first time anyone in Mzansi hears the brand new theme song which features Seyi Shay, Nasty C and Ma E.

On the 28 Feb ,I was  privileged to have been invited  by  one of reputable PR company, Total exposure, to a World Wide Premier of @mtvshuga .

I was among the VIP guests who got a sneak peek at the first three episodes of this season and  i  enjoyed each and every scene. We got to watch the show in a theater experience alongside the show’s cast as well as the who’s who of Mzansi.

Now One of the #redcarpet interviews I enjoyed doing  was with Given Stuurman

I remember when I first saw him on #tv📺 he was just little boy ,today his a grown young talented #actor #tvpresenter who has respect for his craft and his fans. This young man will oneday walk away with an Oscar award.Given Stuurman  (Invictus, Konig Otto, Straight Outta Benoni) – playing tormented youth “Reggie”, a handsome, talented soccer star struggling to understand his sexual identity, and make his own path in the world16906593_237149923421850_3216416680586510336_n.jpg

i also bumped into the bubbly Stephanie Sandows (Scandal, Bonisanani) – who  plays the character  of precocious, mercenary teenager, “Tsholo”17121942_1848579715389521_585531626_o.jpg

like of Rhythm City’s Mduduzi Mabaso (Suffo), Loot Love, Jesse Suntele, Winnie Ntshaba, Oros and Prince Mampofu and more.

I’m so used at interviewing people and celebrities so this time around the #MTV #MTVShuga put me on spot.

Produced by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and MTV Base, MTV Shuga, an award-winning ”edutainment” drama that has been proven to actively change behaviour relating to HIV prevention, went into production in Johannesburg in December, turning its lens on the issues of sexual and reproductive health among teenagers and young women in South Africa.

Having successfully highlighted issues affecting young people in Kenya and Nigeria for nearly a decade, MTV Shuga is using powerful contemporary storylines and relatable characters to disseminate public health messages targeted squarely at South African youth, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and their vulnerability to HIV infection and unintended pregnancy, and exploring sexual identity. Crowded with interwoven stories of heartbreak, love, betrayal and difficult decisions among contemporary South African youth, MTV Shuga is supported by South Africa’s Department of Basic Education, PEPFAR (The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief)Marie Stopes International,  ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action MSM & Transgender Programme, CIFF (Children’s Investment Fund Foundation) and FHI 360 (Family Health International).
