Multi-award-winning actor and now singer Vuyo Biyela, whose stage name is Voodur, dropped his first-ever single with Alie Keys featuring Moschino and Avy Iper, titled “Umzwilili”.
The song is about love. This came during a time when Voodur was in love. He shares that he is a ‘sucker for love’, he believes in true love and that we are brought to earth to love. The song is somehow self-explanatory because the first two lines of the song translate to “Ever since you found a spot in my heart, you made sure you sit there with ease and comfort. I forgot about my family issues, I’ll give you all my cattle (lobola) don’t you worry”.
“The song came together quite organically. When I walked into the studio and heard the beats, I just spoke to the mic and said what was on my mind, so I didn’t write the lyrics down. I guess at the time, I was in a state where I was in love, so this song is more like a love letter to the woman of my dreams.” Shares, Voodur.
Voodur also shared that what inspired him to do music like this is that we live in a time where people don’t appreciate music that speaks to the soul anymore; it’s all about dance music. That is the reason why he chose to go for this genre of music.
