Zulaikha Patel’s Dare To Change NPC and Old Mutual Insure Launch Library Corner at Reaipela Intermediate School

Renowned activist and author Zulaikha Patel, founder of Dare To Change NPC, has made another significant contribution to education in South Africa. In partnership with Old Mutual Insure, Patel launched a new library corner at Reaipela Intermediate School in Magogong, Northern Cape.

Patel gained international recognition in 2016 for her courageous stand against racism at Pretoria High School for Girls. Since then, she has been dedicated to advocating for quality education and social justice.

Founded in March 2024, Dare To Change NPC aims to address the issue of illiteracy among South African children. Through its “Reading To Change The World” program, the organization has established four library corners in underprivileged schools in Gauteng, reaching nearly 8,000 learners.

The partnership with Old Mutual Insure allowed Dare To Change NPC to set up its fifth library corner, providing Reaipela Intermediate School with 700 Pan-African books. This initiative aims to foster early childhood literacy and encourage engagement among learners.

“We are thrilled to partner with Old Mutual Insure to bring literacy resources to underprivileged schools,” says Zulaikha Patel. “Education is the key to unlocking potential, and we’re committed to making a difference.”

In addition to the library launch, Kidz Vision SA conducted an eye testing campaign at Reaipela Intermediate School, providing reading glasses to learners with vision challenges.
