The BAD & BOUJEE Migos two city tour took place in Durban and Johannesburg respectively. The culture tour, was presented by Mabala Noise in association with MTV Base, BET Africa, YFM and Gagasi FM. A night before the Atlanta trio’s arrival, the social media was buzzing with comments, others asking who are the Migos (like seriously…)
Migos are a rap group from Atlanta, Georgia. The trio consists of Quavo (real name Quavious Marshall), Takeoff (real name Kirshnik Ball) and Offset (real name Kiari Cephus). The Migos are relatives: members Quavo and Takeoff are uncle and nephew, and members Quavo and Offset are cousins.
Now that we are all clear who the migos are, let’s talk about the #MigosCulturetour. Unfortunately, i did not attend the Durban event but certainly made it on time at The Dome, In Johannesburg.
On the actual day of the event, outside the Ticket Dome, fans were going crazy singing rain drop, top drop while it was raining heavily, their excitement was reaching a boiling point. However, what started off as a crowd of excited fans quickly turned into a group of agitated spectators ,with rain not doing justice too. After the first opening act by King Kotini- Riky Rick, performances had to stop and nothing happened for hours as security battled to contain the crowd as they tried to enter inside the venue.
The booze bar marque was not only small but also far from the venue and we had to stand long ques before we can place our orders, mind you it was raining, but you know what they say booze lovers never complain.Booze first (hahahaha).
I must say I was bit surprised to see Riky Rick on stage wowing the crowd. I mean, sonke siyayazi about the rumours how/why he left Mabala noise..BUT i guess is what Queen B would have said “Give people what they want” and boi Ricky did exactly that!
After waiting for hours with nothing happening on stage (just playlist),while Mabala Noise promised an opening line-up of possible 10 local acts which included, Babes Wodumo, Gigi Lamayne and DJ Tira, most of them ended up a no-show.
The sexy Boity Thulo jumped on stage to perform her song featuring the young hyena Nasty C. They both put together an exceptional performance, leaving fans bagging for more.

When the Migos arrived, under the close watch of their bodyguards, phela these boyz are so big,the word big can’t even describe how big they are and to top it all,do you have any idea how much their jewelry worth . After their epic performance, the fans were still jumping and singing to each other ,taking videos to upload on social media.
I bumped into the migos official dj ,Dj Durel, behind stage. The guy was so friendly, and he asked the body guards to allow me to do interview with him and later take photos.
My highlights of the evening was when the Fresh Prince of Mafikeng, Cassper Nyovest arrived ,the first thing his crew recognised was the branded red mic I was holding, they knew I was from Mafikeng, as a results he made other journalists so jealous as he agreed to do interviews and later take photos with me too. I saw tall ass mo who also came to send a shout out ,oooh the major league boys were also there going up and down behind the stage like headless chickens.
Shout out to the official sponsors #Sminoff #MTV #BET Africa, #YFM and #GagasiFM #Hypress
Big shout out to the Smirnoff for providing everyone with free cups when buying booze, normally we could have spend a lot on buying them
I couldn’t get hold of anyone from Mabala noise, however,Yesterday Morning, Mabala Noise spokesperson, Sikhulile Nzuzaa, released the following statement:
“We would like to thank all the fans and supporters who came out to The Dome on Saturday to the Migos SA Tour.” says Mabala Noise spokesperson Sikhulile Nzuza.
Just after 19:00 on Saturday evening a massive storm descended on Johannesburg significantly impacting some of the access control points and the electronic accreditation systems.
In the best interests of public safety, the VOC made the decision to pause the live performances until such time as the access points were operating effectively and the safety of patrons could be assured. The safety of the fans was paramount. The time taken to ensure that the event could continue safely caused the delay to the concert schedule and timings had to be adjusted accordingly.
All booked South African artists were backstage and made aware of the situation. Migos went on stage at their scheduled time slot and performed their full set.”
