DJ Soso, the multi-talented DJ, music producer, and record label executive hailing from the vibrant streets of Soweto, is making waves in the Afro House music scene with his latest single, “Precious.” With a career rooted in his love for Kwaito, Hip Hop, and House music, DJ Soso has evolved into a dynamic force in the world of House music, and “Precious” is a testament to his musical prowess and passion for celebrating African women.

DJ Soso embarked on his journey into music production in 2010, and it was in 2015 that he marked his debut with the Afro House single “Ingane,” co-produced by himself and Vanco. From there, his career skyrocketed. In 2004, while still a university student, DJ Soso embraced the DJ booth, and within a year, he was appointed the head of the mobile DJ unit at VOW fm, an impressive feat at just 19 years old. This role laid the foundation for him to curate memorable events and host unforgettable parties at prestigious Joburg clubs.

By 2006, DJ Soso’s star continued to rise as he assumed the role of President of the Wits SJ Society, receiving invaluable mentorship from industry luminaries like Sphectacula, Milkshake, and Mzi. His journey was filled with highlights, including international gigs in Botswana and Swaziland while still a student and sharing the stage with the legendary Black Coffee at the Wits Freshers Bash in 2007.

In 2016, DJ Soso achieved another milestone by signing his second single, “Izulu,” to a UK label, Tribe Records, marking his international breakthrough. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, he rang in the New Year in style by playing at the Polo Beach Club in Accra during a NYE celebration.

In 2020, DJ Soso’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to launch his own record label, Ubizo Cafè, a move that allowed him to self-release his music and maintain creative control. Among his proudest projects is “Izulu,” which featured collaboration with Big Zulu before he became a household name. The track was signed for international release in the UK.

DJ Soso’s diverse musical journey also includes the funky Afro Soul fusion of “Isiphithithi,” released in 2021, marking his venture into creating unique music concepts. He even created merchandise for the song, showcasing his commitment to both the audio and visual aspects of his craft.

“My love for music has led me to music rooms and stages that I have always wanted to be in. There is a lot of talent and a great future for those coming into the scene,” said Soso.

Currently, DJ Soso is riding high on his latest single, “Precious,” featuring vocals from Mr. OG. This Afro House gem pays tribute to African women and doubles as a heartfelt love song. “Precious” is the first taste of DJ Soso’s upcoming EP, set for release in early 2024, with a strong focus on Afro House, his musical foundation.

Soso adds, “I have enjoyed collaborating with producer Ozy Man since 2021, “Precious”  is our latest collaboration which dropped on September 8, 2023. The song’s lyrics carry the theme of celebrating African women and love. Hopefully it will be a powerful and danceable anthem for all.”
