Feisty Rudo Luv Uses Her Music to Inspire Other Women to Fall In Love With Their Bodies

What a better way to celebrate a women’s month than listening to a sound of a woman sharing her story and encouraging other women to be fearless .I recently made time to listen to  Rudo – better known as ‘Rudo Luv’ who just release a single in Tshivenda language titled ‘Zwa Shango’.When translated in English the song means  world conditions.

The timing of release is perfect, the artist simply try to remind women that they don’t have to let world define who they are or let the current situation define their future.

The song is about a woman who had enough and is telling her husband that she’s leaving him. The woman is adamant about leaving because she has devoted her time and love for her man who seems to careless. The woman feels that it’s time for her to reclaim her happiness because being with this man brings her nothing but pain.

Rudo Luv wants to use this song as a message to tell women that it’s okay to remove yourself from a relationship that doesn’t make you happy or fulfil any of your needs or desires.  The song can be downloaded on I-tunes.

A lot of women are victims of abuse and are too scared to leave their partners or speak out about their experiences.

A year ago Rudo Luv was is an abusive marriage, until she reclaim her power and left. This song is what inspired her to leave the marriage because she wrote it while she was still married. She was told that she was fat, and not ‘up to standard’.  Her ex-husband tried by all means to bring her down, saying that she wasn’t beautiful enough. To her, this song was motivation to break out of her shell and own the woman that she is.

She got bitten by the music bug when she was still young and later she became a lead singer for the church choir. Her passion for music grew fondly when she constantly travels and watches her beloved father who was also was respectable musician, perform live on bigger stages. Rudo’s dad, Sipho Bikwa played with the Hot Soul Singers and Soul Brothers – just to name a few.

Her choice of music is grounded in her roots as she mostly sings in Shona, Zulu and Tshivenda. Her songs offer a different sound which embraces a jazzy feel and harmonic chants

When she is not writing music or performing on stage like her dad, she is found on the photoshoot studio or modelling stages as a plus size model. Recently, her semi-nude photo shoot attracted attention and created conversations. Hers was to inspire women of all ages to fall in love with their bodies.IMG_7269
