Gert-Johan Coetzee Gives The Big Mac A 50th Birthday Fashion Spin

 Mention the name Gert-Johan Coetzee to fashion followers and they will tell you that his fashion designs, not only do they make women look elegant and beautiful but also made them feel like they run the world.Then mention McDonalds to any foodie and they will tell you about the affordable best meal and how accessible the brand is any time of day and night. Now think of the two together, food and fashion, in the same sentence, you will probably agree with me if i say never has food been so fashionable and fashion been so foody!

It not surprising that the well-known fashion designer Gert-Johan have teamed up with reputable world’s most iconic burger @McDonalds_SA  to become unstoppable forces of all things tasty and trendy.

The designer to the stars, glamorously commemorates the golden 50th anniversary of the iconic Big Mac® burger with an exciting and sassy Big Mac® Fashion line. The ‘club culture’ trend taking over the high fashion streets across the country was the inspiration for the collection.

Coetzee’s latest collection, which will be shown next week at South African Fashion Week, includes a range of edgy streetwear inspired by the Big Mac. Alongside the high-glamour red-carpet showstoppers the designer is best known for, he will also send glam casualwear down the ramp.DZ90sAqX0AEaR0P

The collaboration with the designer extraordinaire Gert-Johan Coetzee was exactly the exciting edge for us. The fashion line is a celebration of the people that enjoy this iconic burger and the pop culture that McDonald’s, as a brand is a big part of,” expressed Daniel Padiachy, McDonald’s SA Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

He noted Coetzee’s own dedication to social issues as a cementing factor in the relationship. “This collaboration will directly benefit families who need support during a child’s illness, and the synergy and shared values that made this possible is a foundation that we’re excited to build on,” he said.DZ9P96UX0AYDLXm

To turn this popular food icon into a fashion statement, Coetzee took inspiration from urban club culture, for a range that includes tinsel jackets, trendy tracksuits, faux fur and blinged-up T-shirts.

“It’s comfortable and wearable, but still edgy and glam, and there is something for everyone,” he said, revealing that the range will include some kiddies’ items too. To celebrate the Big Mac® with everyone, McDonald’s is introducing the new Grand Big Mac® and Mac Jnr to their menu for a limited time only. These two different-sized burgers are for those who just want to Big Mac® a little and those who want to Big Mac® a whole lot.

All the proceeds of the exclusive range will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provide a safe home, comfort and care to families of children receiving specialised hospital treatment.
