The World Tourism Day is annually celebrated worldwide on the 27th September under a specific theme. This year, World Tourism Organization announced the theme, “Tourism and Green Investment”, under which Tourism Month will be celebrated. For World Tourism Day 2023, UNWTO highlights the need for more and better-targeted investments for people, planet and for prosperity. It is against this background that the industry is encouraged to apply for Green Tourism Fund at the Department of Tourism to mitigate their energy failure in their respective facilities.

The purpose of World Tourism Day is to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. The event seeks to address global challenges outlined in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals. Every year, UNWTO invites people of all ages and backgrounds to hold and take part in WTD celebrations in their respective countries or holiday destinations.
