This was our third time attending the #SAMA ,as always the experience was amazing, word can’t describe the hospitality we received .It all started early in the cold morning ,were all media houses gathered in Jo’burg for a long ride to Durban.Although most journos thought that it was going to be a long ride, ironically,it turned out to be a fun ride .When we arrived ,we were treated like VIP’s,some celebrities were even jealous.
It was the third time this year attending the #SAMA awards ,and i must say since then, each and every year the experience is amazing. Anyway, for those who were at the Durban ICC on Saturday night will agree with me when i say Nathi and DJ Black Coffee and Emtee were the night’s big winners at the 2016 SA Music Awards
Afro-soul singer Nathi won 5 SAMA Awards last night, including the coveted Best Male Award. He showed his digital poweress as well when he won the the Best Full Album Download award.DJ Black Coffee continued his global domination with local accolades at the 22nd SA Music Awards‚ walking away with three trophies at the event‚ including accolades in the Best Engineered Album‚ Best Dance Album and Best Album categories.Black Coffee was also awarded the International Achievement Award at the event.
Lifetime Achievement awards were given to Roger Lucey‚ the late Bhekumuzi Luthuli and the late Nana Coyote.
Hip-hop artist Emtee‚ continued to shine with two major wins at the SAMAs‚ including awards for Best Rap Album and the prestigious Record of the Year Award.Regardless “our Boss Robbed us”
Emtee beat out the likes of the likes of AKA (Baddest/ All Eyes on Me)‚ Black Coffee (We Dance Again)‚ K.O (Skhanda Love)‚ Nathi Mankayi (Nomvula)‚ Timo OVD (Save Me)‚ Prince Kaybee (Better Days)‚ Riky Rick (Boss Zonke) and Four7 (J’Adore) for the Record of the Year gong.
It won’t have been the SAMA if the durbanites didn’t win, The well known singing kwaito group Big Nuz walked away with two awards each.
There’s always drama at the red carpet , @Boity ,@PearlThusi @FifiCooperSan to mention a few ,made headlines and broke the internet with their dresses. Anyway,we won’t go to that ….
