Mzansi’s number one vodka, has released its top 10 finalists for the Smirnoff 1818 Shaya Ingoma Top 10 Female DJ Search. After a nationwide search, weeks of entertainment by aspiring DJs, and a rigorous judging process, Smirnoff 1818 is proud to announce the top ten finalists in the contest.

The Smirnoff 1818 Shaya Ingoma Top 10 Female DJ Search grand prize winner will walk away with a R100 000 cash prize, a three-month residency with a national radio station, a curated Spotify playlist, one month PR management (commencing 12 March 2022) and profiling as well as feature at Smirnoff 1818 and Shaya Ingoma music events in 2022 (Ts & Cs apply). The competition winner will also get an opportunity to experience the global DJing industry landscape by going on a once-in-a-lifetime international DJ-ing trip valued at R200 000.
The remaining nine finalists will not leave empty-handed, they will walk away with a R50 000 cash prize each, 15-min sets on one of South Africa’s national radio station, curated Spotify playlist, continued two month of PR management(commencing 18 February 2022), Smirnoff 1818 Shaya Ingoma activations and battle sets to establish their careers in South Africa (Ts & Cs apply).
From the Top 10 finalists, the WINNER will be selected by public vote through the website www.shayaingoma1818.co.za. Voting opened to the public at 00h01 on 18 February 2022 and closes at 12h00 on 11 March 2022, with each individual voter limited to 3 votes per day and 20 votes overall.
The Smirnoff 1818 Shaya Ingoma Top 10 Female DJ Search platform was established to create an inclusive platform for female DJs who still experience a disadvantage in the South African music industry. The Fusion 2021 Interim Modelled Update Research report highlights the wide gender gap that exists in the music industry, as such, through the platform, the brand wishes to continue the momentum of opening up the music industry to women.
