South African hip-hop artist and music producer ZULO released his horror-themed single titled JUST VAARBS, on 30 July 2021 building up to his much anticipated third EP Talk to Me Naace.
The groovy single comes just under 2 months since ZULO’s banging debut Portals, which took fans through his 10-year music journey as Lil Trix–his previous stage name.
Produced by ZULO, Miglow, WRLD CLS and MV Majestic, the kwaito-influenced single revisits the emotional break-up highlighted in the rapper’s second EP Don’t Take Me for a P!, as the rapper discusses his frustrations with post-break-up banter over a calming Lira sample, riddled with classic R&B references.
“Lyrically, the song is an answer to an answer of making a break-up album. I really wanted to express my desire to ignore what other people think of me, based on fabricated stories. There’s a beautiful message in there about minding your business.” – ZULO.
In addition to the artwork, song, and lyric video, an Instagram filter allows users to wear a 3D model of ZULO’s cartoon bunny mascot Tricky, the Bunny, who appears on all his cover arts, with blinking mechanics.
