Double Celebration: Toasting My Birthday Month & 30 Years of Ocean Basket’s Magic

My last birthday celebration of the month was a special one, and it was made even more memorable by Ocean Basket’s 30th-anniversary celebration. I was so lucky to close out my birthday month on the very last day of their special offer.

I had the pleasure of taking my cousin, whom I hadn’t seen in a while, and my friend Samukelo, a talented voice-over artist and model, for a lovely brunch at the Ocean Basket in Waverley, Pretoria.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. We were welcomed by a beautiful wall painted to bring to life and to give the place an ambiance of seafood, and our waiter, Sammy, was incredibly professional and patient. He even helped us take some great pictures and videos to capture the moment.

While we waited for our table, we were served complimentary rose wine, a lovely touch that made us feel right at home. We all ordered the “Reel Love Platter” — a seafood platter with prawns, hake, calamari, chips, and rice. This limited-time special was originally for Mother’s Day, but it was extended to August, and we were lucky enough to get the last one.For dessert we ordered chocolate lava cakes and baklavas. It was like being a baby in heaven !10/10

As if that wasn’t enough for take a way I ordered the famous spicy prawns platter also at R145

The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole experience was fantastic. The only downside is that they don’t sell alcohol due to a licensing issue, so we had to opt for the in-house wines.

Overall, I’d rate the experience a 9/10. It was the perfect way to end my birthday month.
