North-West Province came to stand still from 06-09 December as thousands of revellers flocked in Mafikeng to attend Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Fest.The festival spread out over four days and during this time, attendees had a chance to experience some of the most interesting aspects of African culture.The festival offered art, music, dance,theatre, crafts and exhibitions.The Cultural Music Festival kicked off with a carnival parade which included Clowns, Drum Majorettes, Brass Band, Traditional Dancers, Donkey Carts, Horses and much more entertainment.
Mahika Mahikeng is an initiative of the Bokone Bophirima Provincial Government and was developed with the aims of showcasing the best local and international African artists across various disciplines.It is a Music and Cultural Festival which provides a platform for product position and paradigm innovation for the creative industries sector in Bokone Bophirima.
Maftown Heights with its second leg in Mafikeng since its inception became one of the highlights of the festival with various artist epic performances such as , OkMalumeKulkat ,,rick ricky boss zonke Aracee,Motswako Firt lady FifiCooper ,Emtee,Tshego,Kwesta,Solid-T,Tuks Senganga, Motswako pioneer-KhuliChana and many more.
Heavy rain did not stop fans from going crazy ,singing along and jumping up and down.The highlight of the night was the surprise performance by Mufusa ,It was INDESCRIBABLE CassperNyovest always gives his BEST as if it’s his last on earth!Heavy rain did not stop his fans from screaming,singing along, jumping up & down.
The Jazz brought the festival to a close on Sunday and it became the highlight of the festival. Many elders relived their youth days when Ntate Tshepo Tshola was on stage,while others were so emotional and sang out loud along with Multi award winning artist Amanda black.When Kelly Khumalo went on stage ,it became lit,not mentioning Zahara. Everyone joined in and sang along.

Prior the event we had a media breakfast briefing where the sassy and beautiful tv and radio personality Khanyi Mbau was the hos with the most.
Supported by the tourism, The Department of Culture, Arts and Traditional Affairs (cata),Mahika Makineng has grown to become one of the largest economic drivers in Bokone Bophirima.
According to the out going MEC of tourism in the North West,Desbo Mohono,the festival has helped to stimulate tourism in the era. ‘thousands of jobs are created directly and indirectly.
Cata MEC Hon. Ontlametse Mochware explained that with its 4th edition the festival had to pull all the stops to add the international artist to the lineup.She says the festival plays a huge role in grooming upcoming artists and giving them a platform to sell themselves to the world.
“These artists are coming together to tell a new, uplifting, and positive story about Africa as the creative engine of the world”concluded the Hon.Ontlametse
