It has been officially announced that your Royal Highness, Actor, model and presenter Pearl Thusi together with the singer, song writer Stone Seate are the official host for the SATMA Awards12
The awards will be hosted for the second time in the North West province, In Mafikeng. The best news is that Bokone Bophirima will play host the SATMA Awards main event from 2017 to 2019.
With just couple of weeks to go before the main evening of Friday the 29th of September, everyone who is invited is getting ready to show off their traditional style. The SATMA Awards Main Events Weekend will start with a Premium, Red-Carpet, Civic Announcement and Official Welcome to the SATMA Awards weekend.This Premium Gathering will be the Welcoming Ceremony and the Official Start of the 2017 SATMA Awards Weekend.
Access will be by invitation only and the guest-list will include Local and International Dignitaries, VVIP Guests, Artists, SATMA Nominees and Media Representatives.
After a short Welcoming Ceremony, the guests will be treated to a variety of light entertainment; including a live jazz band that will set the tone for the evening, and live performances from our Top Local Comedians.One of the highlights of the evening will be the fashions and creations of Mzansi’s top celebrity and up n’ coming fashion designers.

The SATMA Awards were founded on 2005 by Dr. Dumisani Goba to bring all races and ethnic groups together through the celebration of our diverse musical cultures thus eliminating tribalism and other divisive measures. This brand has contributed a lot when it comes to the development of traditional music in this country and has also exposed traditional music across the globe. We were the first awards to reward our Award-winning artists with prizes (monetary, resources, education, etc.) and not just a beautiful trophy.
On the 20th of May 2017, Robben Island played a host venue for the 12th Annual SATMA Awards official launch. Robben Island is a global icon, filled with heritage and legend and; as such, it is quintessentially the ideal venue to highlight the theme for this year’s SATMA Awards… “Celebrating Legends”.
This inspired theme celebrates our South African music legends as well as legends from across Africa and Diaspora.
The SATMA Awards are very proud to have the SABC as their official Broadcast Partner; whose contributions and support have been both crucial and invaluable, in ensuring the continued success and reach of the SATMA Awards. The SABC will bring the best Life-Style programmers such as Selimathunzi and Roots, to give the event more magic. Hopefully will be invited too.
